Subjects Offered
St. Francis Xavier School follows the curriculum prescribed by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), providing a balanced, progressive, and learner-centred academic programme.
For Classes I to VIII, the school follows the CISCE-recommended curriculum with Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) and a strong emphasis on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) in Classes I to V. From Classes IX to XII, students follow the Council-prescribed syllabus leading to the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Examination (Class X) and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) Examination (Class XII).
The subjects offered at the various levels are outlined below.
- Primary School (Class I-V):
- Marked Subjects: English, Hindi/Bengali, Mathematics, EVS, Science, SST, Computers
- Graded Subjects: Value Education, GK, Art, Music, Physical Education.
- Middle School (Class VI-VIII):
- Marked Subjects: English, Hindi/Bengali, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, History & Civics, Computers, Third Languages (Hin/Ben)
- Graded Subjects: Value Education, GK, Art, Music, Physical Education.
- Senior Secondary (Class IX-X):
- Specialised Streams: Science and Commerce.
- Core Marked Subjects: English, Hindi/Bengali, History, Civics and Geography
- Optional subjects: Mathematics/EVS, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Commercial Studies, Economic Applications/Computer Applications.
- Higher Secondary (Class XI-XII):
- Specialised Streams – Science and Commerce
- Core Marked Subjects: English/Modern English, Hindi/Bengali
- Science Stream Subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Computer Science
- Commerce Stream Subjects: Accounts, Business Studies, Economics, Entrepreneurship/ Applied Mathematics
The CISCE curriculum is research-based and rigorously designed to foster conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, creativity, and practical application. It equips students with a strong foundation for higher education and prepares them to excel in competitive examinations such as JEE, NEET, CUET, and other national and professional entrance examinations.
IMPORTANT POINTS
- Admission is granted on the basis of merit and on the best judgment of the authorities.
- Information deliberately suppressed, concealed or faked will lead to cancellation of admission.
- Registration Fee is non-refundable.
- All receipts/documents and deadlines mentioned by the school are to be preserved. Failure to comply with dates mentioned by the school office may lead to cancellation of admission.
- The decision of the Principal on admissions is final. No explanation will be provided in case admission is not granted.
- All Fees once paid is non-refundable.
- All admissions to Class XI are provisional pending confirmation from CISCE.
