St. Francis Xavier School Participates in CISCE’s Project SHINE Pilot Initiative
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi has launched Project
SHINE (Student Holistic Insight and Nurturing Evaluation), an innovative pilot assessment programme aimed at transforming the learning experience for students across India. As part of this nationwide initiative, only about 300 schools have been selected to participate, and St. Francis Xavier School is proud to be among 28 schools chosen from Kolkata for this prestigious pilot.
A Step Towards Holistic, Future-Ready Education
Project SHINE seeks to enrich the educational process by moving beyond traditional methods of rote learning. The programme introduces digital, interactive, and gamified assessments that nurture critical thinking, real-world application, and problem-solving skills. This shift aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises modern, student-centred evaluation practices. In the long run, Project SHINE aims to prepare today’s learners to play a key role in India’s growing AI-driven future.
Assessment Structure Across Classes
Implemented from 10th November to 21st November 2025, the pilot programme covers students of Classes 3, 6, and 9.
Class 3 students engaged in game-based assessments focused on strengthening foundational literacy. Classes 6 and 9 participated in MCQ-based assessments covering core subjects along with Social Emotional Learning (SEL).
Using AI-enabled evaluation tools, student responses will be analysed to generate detailed performance reports. These insights will help teachers tailor instructional strategies, monitor progress more effectively, and support the overall development of every learner.
Our Commitment to Excellence
Through its participation in Project SHINE, St. Francis Xavier School reaffirms its dedication to academic excellence and 21st-century learning. By embracing advanced assessment methods, the school ensures that each student grows with confidence, competence, and a strong sense of individuality throughout their scholastic journey.
